ENGL 304

Advanced Composition (3 credits)

All 3-credit sections

General Description: ENGL 304 is a course in written composition--its theory and practice, its production and reception. The course emphasizes the writing process and the rhetorical concerns and principles that govern that process (writers will need to consider, for example, matters of purpose, audience, context, genre, voice, and style). Class size is small so that each student may participate fully in prose composition, revision, and analysis. The primary purpose of the course is to develop the skills of already strong writers. Students needing instruction in intermediate writing skills will find ENGL 303 (see Distance Education offerings of ENGL 303 at http://det.cstudies.ubc.ca) more suitable.

Texts: Texts will be announced by individual instructors. Please check the UBC Bookstore.
