Honours Program

The Honours Program is intended for students who have a strong interest in literature, show promise in the study of literatures in English, and wish to take a specialized degree in English. In the seminars and graduating essay, students have the opportunity to work with members of the faculty in small groups and individually. The structure of the program makes possible a variety of methods of study and teaching. Students who expect to teach should note that the Faculty of Education encourages students to take an Honours Program. Faculties of Law also appreciate English Honours, as do all Graduate programs. It is possible for English Honours students to take a Combined Honours degree. English Honours combines quite easily with Majors and Minors in other disciplines. Decisions on admissions are made in the early summer.
